Marriage Mentoring,
Evidence-Based Definitions, Practices,
Boundaries, Framework, and Programme
This presentation provides a framework, “Marriage Mentoring, Uniquely Singapore” (MMSG), for expanding Singapore’s marriage support ecosystem through the deployment of Marriage Mentoring Platforms, as a vital augmentation to existing marriage support structures. It seeks to align the efforts of policy-makers, marriage practitioners, community partners, and faith-based organizations around a common goal: empowering couples through structured mentoring relationships.
The initiative supports capacity-building across roles—trainers, mentors, coaches, clergy, family life educators, small group leaders or facilitators and counsellors—while promoting sustainable, peer-led interventions that complement professional services. It positions mentoring inclusively as a preventive, relational strategy to reinforce marriages, particularly but not exclusively in at-risk communities or marital relationship recovery communities.
